Tirlochan Chhatwal Obituary (1937 - 2022)

Sardarni Tirlocan Chhatwal, was born on April 3, 1937, in Malaysia, and died March 19, 2022, in NJ - just 2 weeks shy of her 85th birthday. She is predeceased by her husband, Sardar Davinder Singh Chhatwal, and survived by her daughter, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur & son-in-law, Arvinder Singh; son, Gurdeep Raj Singh & daughter-in-law, Gopali Bobbi Vaccarelli; son Gurdev Singh & daughter-in-law, Manpreet Kaur as well as grandchildren: Amitoj Singh & wife Simar Amitoj Singh, Chetan Singh & wife Guneet Sachdev, Mahir Singh and Niamat Kaur and great grandchildren: Kripa, Japita & Meher. Tirlochan lived and traveled all over the world. In Egypt, she learned Arabic, and became a radio host - playing Indian music. She founded and taught in an English school in Congo. After moving from New Delhi to New York, she was employed at the UN. Several years later, she was promoted to Procurement Officer for the UNFPA - (UN Fund for Population Activities) in NYC. While she led an active life and had a successful career, her focus and joy remained on family.
