It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Shakuntala R. Patel, fondly known as Shaku, on October 27, 2024. Born in Gujarat, India, on February 1, 1946, Shakuntala was a unique and spirited soul, always full of life and resilience. Her generous spirit and loving heart became the center of warmth for all who knew her, and her kitchen was often likened to a sanctuary, where people could find comfort, love, and the best meals they'd ever tasted. Shakuntala brought the tastes of her homeland Gujarat to her new home, creating a bridge between cultures, fostering understanding, and sparking joy through food.
Shakuntala was an embodiment of the Bhagavad Gita verse, "Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening, is happening for the good. Whatever will happen, will also happen for the good." She lived her life with this profound wisdom, exuding resilience and a spirited zest for life. Her legacy is carried forward by her son, Ketul Shah, who was the apple of her eye. Shakuntala's life is a testament to the power of love, resilience, and generosity, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Shakuntala's life during the Funeral Puja, Viewing & Last Rites on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm EDT at the Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 New Jersey 27, North Brunswick Township, New Jersey, 08902.
