Niamat Rai Kalra Obituary (1944 - 2021) - Hillsborough, New Jersey

~Jai Shree Swaminarayan~ It is with great sadness that the Kalra Family announces the passing of their beloved Niamat Rai Kalra. ~~~~~~ Niamat Rai Kalra, 77, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. We pray to God for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace and give strength to the family members to bear the loss of their beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Niamatji was born in Mianwali, Punjab (in present day Pakistan) on February 26, 1944, the youngest of five siblings. He and his family settled in Punjab, India, where he graduated from University in Ambala, Punjab and worked as a mechanical engineer at Hindustan Machine Tools from 1963-1983. He married Uma Puri in 1971 and has a son and daughter. In 1984, the family emigrated to the US and settled in Laurel, Maryland. Niamatji and Umaji raised two successful children and are now grandparents to 4 children. They moved to New Jersey in 2019 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Niamatji worked tirelessly, always making himself available to help his family. He will be remembered most for his generosity, selflessness and devotion to his friends and family.
